Our Mission: To help assist Louisiana families who have children needing a second cochlear implant with surgery and educational rehabilitative costs not covered by their insurance
This Fishing to Hear Rodeo is the product of a few great, fellow charter boat captains offering to help to raise funds for Captain Darryl Couvillion’s deaf son Kyle, who needed a second cochlear implant. The costly surgery (~$80,000) was not covered by insurance and would consequently leave a significant cost to be covered out of pocket by the family. This surgery would give Kyle a chance to learn to listen, speak and go to school with normal hearing children.
In 2007, the Fishing to Hear Rodeo was a huge success. Kyle now perceives sound out of both ears!
Because of the fine Venice charter captains (who have hearts as big as their catches), the Couvillion Family,and the New Orleans Oral School- the 2nd Annual Fishing to Hear Rodeo will continue its efforts to "fish for hearing" for yet another child like Kyle and his family. Funds raised will also be given to help us continue to donate to other local schools serving the deaf/cochlear implant children.

We will be offering chances to win offshore fishing trips for 4 with every raffle ticket purchase of $20.00. In total, twenty charter trips will be given away. This is the first tournament of its kind in this area and it is a great opportunity to fish with some of Southern Louisiana's finest captains in one of the country's best fisheries.
We want to thank everybody for coming out to the Block Party raffle drawing! We had a huge turnout with a wonderful concert and great food from Cafe 615. Come out and join us next year. You won't want to miss out!
